Information Assurance

The USACE ERDC ITL leads the Army Information Assurance (IA) mission to:

  • Protect army operations, missions, and lives by securing and defending the Army's section of the global information grid.

This entails ensuring that Army data centers meet the mission-critical requirements of thousands of end users worldwide to operate in a secure environment at optimal performance. To accomplish this, ITL:

  • provides expertise by leading accreditations;
  • offers Certificates of Networthiness (CON);
  • promotes IA awareness for its Army and DoD customers.

ITL oversees IA activities across the software development life cycle. This software is a mixture of government and commercial software containing millions of lines of code. We also develop long-term strategic plans and subsequently transition these plans into secure computing services for the DoD community.

ITL is uniquely tackling many security concerns with new technology such as seeking to employ the first IA approved instance of Google Earth for the unclassified DoD Environment.

We also engage critical partnerships with academia such as the Center for Computer Security Research at Missisippi State University.
